Management Team

Managing Director

Tim Whitehouse joined Newsquest Specialist Media Ltd as Managing Director in March 2003. Tim has over 20 years’ experience in the media sector, including 14 years at Emap plc in a variety of roles, including Divisional Head of Emap Digital and Publishing Director of Emap Finance. As well as successfully transforming the company with the launch of new and innovative products and the development of existing brands, Tim won Newsquest’s 2006 Managing Director of the Year Award.

Financial Controller

David Jones has been Financial Controller since July 2007, having previously worked as a financial analyst at Newsquest Head Office. He achieved the ACA qualification in 2005 and left Deloitte to join Newsquest in 2006.



HR Manager

Kalpa Joshi, Human Resources Manager, joined Newsquest Specialist Media Ltd in February 2007. Kalpa is responsible for all aspects of HR from recruitment, training & development and employee relations. A Member of the CIPD, Kalpa has over 10 years’ experience as HR Generalist.



Publishing Director of Boxing News and Head of Digital and Data

Alex McLachlan has been with Newsquest Specialist Media for four years working as Publishing Director of Boxing News, the recent launch title Fighting Fit and heading up the Digital and Data teams. His previous publishing experience includes working for FT Business and managing a portfolio of lifestyle consumer titles



Publishing Director, Insurance Times

Shan Millie has been with NSM since February 2004 and in her time here has worked on both B2B and consumer newsstand titles, on launches and relaunches, and assisted with disposals and evaluating acquisitions.



Publisher, The Strad and Components in Electronics

Robin Shute has a track record of 20 years’ experience in consumer magazine publishing. Core to this is a 14-year stint at Haymarket Publishing, which he joined as a journalist before rising through the ranks to become a publisher. He joined The Strad in 2007 and became Publisher of Components in Electronics in January 2009.



Engaged Investor

Bob Campion joined the company in November 2001, became editor in 2003 and was launch editor of Engaged Investor in 2005. Before joining Newsquest, Bob was News Editor of weekly local newspaper the Enfield Independent and has a degree in Philosophy & Literature from Warwick University.




Stuart is Head of Sales for Engaged Investor. Joining Newsquest Specialist Media in November 2005 as the Advertising Manager for Engaged Investor. In January 2007 Stuart was promoted to Head of Sales. Stuart’s media career started in 1998 at Tec Publications when he launched The Landscaper Magazine which he ran for two years. Having been based in Worcestershire he then decided to move to London to begin his publishing career in financial media.



Publisher, Global Reinsurance/Strategic Risk

William Sanders started his career at Risk magazine in 1997 and went on to become one of the founding directors of Capacity magazine, a wholesale telecommunications publication in 2000. Before joining Newsquest, he spent six years working in Australia in a variety of publishing roles for Thomson and Informa Australia.



Editor, Insurance Times

Tom began his career in journalism as a sports reporter for national newspapers before winning a place on the graduate training scheme at The Builder Group publishing group, owned by United Business Media. Prior to joining Insurance Times as Editor in 2007 he was the Executive Editor of Building magazine following six years writing for the property press.



Sales Director, Insurance Times

Tom began his career in media sales management in 1997 with the Kent and Sussex Courier (part of the Northcliffe media group) and worked in a variety of roles. Tom joined Newsquest in 2001 as advertising manager of Strategic Risk magazine, subsequently moving to Insurance Times where he was promoted from Head of Sales to Sales Director in 2007. Tom successfully completed his PPA diploma in publishing in 2006.



Central team department heads

Marketing

Previously Head of Marketing and Circulation for four years, Stuart Kelly has specialised his role as Project Manager for Marketing and Circulation since April 2008. His extensive experience in B2B publishing customer expansion projects has allowed him to focus NSM’s direction and immediacy of its impact to a wider audience. He is also a member of the European Advisory Committee for the BPA.



Head of Events

As Head of Events, Debbie Kidman leads a team of two, delivering more than 25 events each year for Newsquest Specialist Media. The events team work across a range of titles including Insurance Times, Global Reinsurance, Strategic Risk and Engaged Investor. The scale of events ranges from awards ceremonies for more than 1000 people to more intimate roundtables. With European and Global titles included in the portfolio, events are not exclusive to the UK and are hosted in the Middle East as well as a host of European cities. Working in a very competitive industry, the team are constantly evolving their line up of events to ensure they meet the wishes of both their delegates and sponsors as well as their internal stakeholders.


Group Production Manager

Group Production Manager Tricia McBride has over 12 years experience as a Production Manager in Publishing, ranging from contract publishing, part-works and book publishing, to b2b and consumer magazines. Tricia joined Newsquest in March 2001.



IT Manager

Gavin Saunders joined Newsquest Specialist Media Ltd as IT Manager in January 2007. He has been with Newsquest for 8 years starting as an engineer at the Bucks Free Press. He has worked at many of the Newsquest sites including Wycombe, Hayes, St.Albans, Hendon, Watford, Morden, Weybridge and Farringdon. Gavin is responsible for all systems, telephony and data infrastructure at the site.
